Irish Heritage Tours at Clonalis House

From 21st June – 31st August Clonalis House operates Historic House Tours.

Step inside Clonalis House and uncover over 1,500 years of Irish heritage, brought to life through one of the country’s most remarkable private collections of Gaelic historic artefacts. Bookable online in advance, this one-hour guided tour invites you to explore the legacy of the O’Conor family, one of Ireland’s most influential dynasties as our expert local guides lead you through ornately furnished rooms steeped in charm and character. Pore over the outstanding collection of art, period interiors, and rare manuscripts in the grand reception rooms, and discover the pivotal role the O’Conor family played in shaping Ireland’s political and social history. A must for heritage lovers, history buffs, and anyone enchanted by the rich, colourful tapestry of Ireland’s past.

For regular guided tours we are open from 21st June to 31st August (Monday – Saturday).

Our Historic House Tours do not take place on event days so please call in advance to check.

Access to the house is not level and there is no lift inside. There is also some steps inside. We try to accommodate in every way possible, so please contact us in advance of visiting.

Some Golden Rules

  • We reserve the right to alter the opening dates and times without prior notice. Please always check the website before visiting us.
  • Please note we do not allow prams or pushchairs in the house and only allow small bags in the house.
  • As Clonalis House is still a family home, photography is not permitted inside the house. No drones are permitted.
  • There is no food/drink permitted on the tour.
  • Children ages 17 or under must be accompanied by an adult; during a school visit the teacher is in loco parentis. Accompanying adults are responsible for supervising the children in their care at all times.
  • We regret that dogs and pets are not allowed in Clonalis house, grounds or gardens when visiting for a tour.
  • Please arrive on time for the guided tour as it may not be possible to join a tour depending on how late you have arrived and on the basis that the running tour will not be disturbed should you join it. The decision of our staff on this matter will be final and binding. No refund will be made should you arrive late, on the wrong day or after opening hours. If you arrive early, you will not be admitted until the time specified at the time of booking unless we agree otherwise.
  • Entry to Clonalis House, Garden and courtyard is restricted to visitors with pre-booked accommodation or a booked tour.
  • By purchasing a ticket of admission to Clonalis House you acknowledge that you have read and agree to comply with all terms and conditions as stated.
