- There is both a Super Valu and a Lidl
supermarket in Castlerea Town. There is also a Dunnes Stores supermarket in Roscommon Town. - Bennys Deli Castlerea: a family run cafe, deli, specialist grocery shop and bakery. All of the food served is freshly made on the premises every day. We recommend ordering their delicious croissants in advance for collection. Open Tue – Sat, 8.30am – 4.30pm
- Josies Café: home cooked food, serving breakfast, lunch & treats. Open Mon- Fri 8.30am – 4.30pm and Sat 9am – 3pm
- The Old Stone House Restaurant: just 15 mins by car head here for weekend dinners or Sunday lunches. Open Fri & Sat 5-9pm and Sun 1-7pm. Book in advance.
- Caufield’s Pub: After a day of sightseeing, relax and unwind in one of Castlerea’s cozy pubs. A stroll from the cottage – popular with locals, this is a charming pub to have right on your doorstep. For lovers of traditional pubs & a great place to grab a pint.
- Mulvihill’s Pub: One of those places that don’t exist anymore in Ireland a newsagent and a pub. A lovely pub run by Dermot, Bernie & family. Gorgeous open fire in winter and hosts monthly trad sessions.
- Takeaways: Indian, Chinese, Pizza and Chipper.
- Robert Flynn’s: a traditional general Irish store that sells pretty much everything you can think of (not for eating or drinking) but a cornerstone in Castlerea for many years.

- Rogue & Co Café: is a contemporary restaurant that places a focus on home-cooked food, and serves breakfast until noon. Thereafter, a large and diverse lunch menu with homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, and hot main meals is available. Mon-Thurs 9am-5pm, Fri -Sat 9am-6pm, Sun 10am-3pm.
- Regans Gastro Pub & Restaurant: a family run Gastro pub and restaurant in the centre of Roscommon Town providing a friendly, homely and relaxed atmosphere with food & beverages. Mon- Thurs 12pm-9pm, Fri 12-9.30pm, Sat 12.30pm-9.30pm, Sun 12.30pm-8.30pm.

- Les Petites Tartres: breakfast, daily lunch specials, gourmet sandwiches, salads and homemade desserts. Added bonus, you get to browse the adjoining interiors shop Town & Country when you are done. Athleague, Roscommon. Tues – Sat, 9am -5pm. Sun 10.30am -5pm.
- The Purple Onion Restaurant & Bar: An art gallery, restaurant and bar, nestled on the banks of the river Shannon with an emphasis on the freshness and quality of the ingredients. Choose from a delicious array of Irish products to bring home from their pantry also. Open Tue 4pm – 8.00pm ,Wed – Sat 12.30 -8.00pm. Worth the 45min drive.
- The Shed Distillery: For lovers of delicious local Irish gin and whiskey, a tour of The Shed Distillery shouldn’t be missed. A fully guided experience including an expert tasting of Drumbshanbo Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey and finish off with a refreshing Gunpowder Irish Gin and Tonic. (our favourite Gin of all time). Stop a while and visit their café which serves a wide range of very tasty hearty Irish foods. (55 min drive)

With Roscommon located in the centre of Ireland, we are close to Athlone, Galway, Sligo , Westport and Connemara and we would be more than happy to recommend restaurants in these areas when you stay with us.
