From birthday parties and family gatherings to business meetings, press events and fascinating historical tours, clonalis is a wonderful place to celebrate milestones and host friends and family.

700 GLORIOUS ACRES OF PRIVATE PARKLAND COCOON GUESTS IN THE LUXURY OF PERSONAL SPACE...

Clonalis is a true rural escape, it’s beauty in the fact that the house has a feel of an intimate stately home – and a house party – without the airs and graces: tea, coffee and homemade cake on the lawn on arrival, say, or a pre-dinner drink and a catch-up with friends and family, a walk by the river or a spot of forest bathing; it’s a place of tasteful restraint where you can unwind for weekend or celebrate with loved ones. The option of private hire, self-catering cottages means it’s perfectly suited for intimate events, offering a slice of Irish countryside life with a large measure of fascinating history and oodles of charm that you’ll be hard pressed to find elsewhere.

THINGS TO DO

Spanning more than 700 acres, Clonalis and the surrounding countryside offers endless opportunities to explore, experience and get lost.

TAKE A TOUR

Far more than a country house retreat, stepping into Clonalis is like stepping back in time, through thousands of years of living history. And, you don’t have to be an overnighting guest to enjoy its charms. After nearly 40 years of welcoming guests to our home we still feel a huge passion towards the history of the house and also a dedication to providing a warm welcome to all that walk through our door, whether you’re staying the night or passing through.

Filled with an outstanding collection of antique furniture, period features and historic artifacts and over 100,000 manuscripts in our archives there is a rich heritage to share: the last known verdict of Brehon Law dating from the sixteenth century, the harp of Turlough O’Carolan – last of the great Irish bards, and the inauguration stone of the O’Connor kings just some of the tour highlights. From the moment you enter the gates, you step into a time capsule from the fourth century to the present day of one of Ireland’s oldest families and we look forward to sharing its stories and secrets with you.
